Gustavo Dudamel has been named Musical America's 2013 Musician of the Year.

The Venezuelan conductor received the honor at a ceremony at New York's Lincoln Center last month, where his mentor, founder Dr. José Antonio Abreu, was also named Musical America's 2013 Educator of the Year. In announcing the award, the publication praised Gustavo for his "charisma, tireless advocacy for music education, and expressive music-making."
